DAY 54- 5/3/11

Today the weather more than made up for yesterday’s cold and rainy conditions. High 60′s and sunny and dry. Just beautiful for running. Got carried away and ran over 22 miles.

Texas is very hard on littering and DUI’s. Billboards say “You can’t afford a DUI-$17,000″. And littering brings a $1000 fine.

So, I stop today to get a drink and fig newtons at a convenience store. As I finish my drink, I see a Sherriff’s car on my side of the shoulder. I stop and ask him if I could give him my empty bottle so as not to litter. I was in the middle of nowhere. He said, ” I’m not a trash can, you’ll have to find somewhere else to put it”. I guess I cared more than he did. Kind of a jerk.

I’ve seen a lot of boats and trailers around here, but no water. I saw it today–Bridgeport Lake, in Runaway Bay, Tx. See picture below– beautiful.
